If you are trying to decide if therapy might be able to help you, ask yourself some of the following questions:
How can you bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be?
Do you find yourself in a frustrating cycle in your relationships, where the same problems or arguments keep coming back up?
Do you have difficulty enjoying life, even when you can’t pinpoint a specific problem and "should" be content?
Do you find yourself avoiding, distracting from, or burying feelings or thoughts because you don’t know how to cope with them? Or that the way you were previously coping with them is no longer helpful?
Are you using substances in a way that is negatively impacting your life and moving you away from the life you want for yourself?
Do you find yourself feeling sad, stressed, lonely, and uncertain how to move forward with your career, life, or relationship?
Are you frequently ending up in negative or unhealthy relationships that seem to drain your energy rather than replenish it?
Do you take on too much from others and not leave enough energy for self-care and enjoyment? Is it hard to say "no" without experiencing guilt?
Are you often feeling overwhelmed and exhausted and uncertain how to recharge (or feeling there is not enough time to do this!)?
Do you catch yourself feeling unreasonably angry, irritable, or annoyed without a good understanding as to why?
Have events happened in your life that seem to be keeping you stuck and unable to move forward toward your goals?
Do you find yourself trying to go to sleep at night, but having endless worries on replay in your mind?
People typically reach out for therapy when they feel overwhelmed, distressed, hopeless, or feel a loss of direction.
You deserve to feel good again (or maybe for the first time in a long while)! You shouldn’t have to spend your life wondering when the next thing could go wrong and throw you into a spiral. Waking up in the morning shouldn’t be something you dread (even if you’re not a morning person)! Life shouldn’t be something you are just getting through, it should be something you genuinely enjoy. That doesn’t mean there won’t still be good days and bad days, because that’s how life goes; but what it does mean is that you’ll learn how to be better equipped to manage the bad days and find ways to feel good even when there is stress around you.
Therapy is an investment. It isn't a quick fix or a fix all, and it takes WORK! It requires you to look into the mirror and see parts of yourself that may make you feel a little bit uncomfortable at first. But with active engagement you can see major shifts!
At Colorado Mental Wellness Collective, we can work together to identify what is keeping you stuck and blocking you from living the life you envisioned before life became too much.
